With The Best of 2012 Lists still doing its rounds, CHEKA Digital decided to give you, our readers, a chance to vote for your favourite emcee/s from last year. Mic check 1 2 1 2. You ready? Let’s get into it.

The criteria of the Top Ten is determined by the following:

The emcee will have to have had a good run during the year (2012) whether in anticipation of an offering or their presence within media and the extended music industry. Collaborations and Feature records also form part of the ‘buzz’.

Bars and Quotables

These are imperative. Lyrics and flow form a pivotal part of any emcee’s pedigree. If you rap and no one remembers any of your bars, your impact on the music industry was more than likely forgettable.

An artist’s longevity is boosted by their art; an album, a mixtape or even a couple of songs on radio is all it takes. The essence to being recognised as an artist to produce quality material, being being heard and seen everywhere.

In voting for the artists below, the above criteria should be enforced. A minimum of two to three of the above mentioned criteria should be fulfilled to qualify for a top ten spot.

The top ten will be decided upon based on the criteria and the votes each respective artist gets.

The list for the SA Hottest Emcees From 2012 poll are:

Cassper Nyovest
