Reuniting with the network that launched Def Comedy Jam, Russell Simmons has signed a two-year-look deal which will allow him to create and develop projects for the HBO network.
The two have come a long way since the network aired his Def Comedy Jam in 1992. This is the same show that put comedians like Martin Lawrence and Chris Tucker, among others, on the map. This new deal will also be exclusive to HBO, meaning only if the network is not interested in the projects he pitches, may he shop elsewhere. Having earned his credits over the last decade on both TV and film, this mogul has influenced half the hip-hop industry, and built his fame since the days of co-founding Def Jam Recordings.
