Have Movies Become Too Predictable?

Watching the hit romantic comedy, Friends with benefits, we all knew that the “no strings attached” sex between the lead characters Jamie and Dylan was going to end with them in a relationship. It was obvious from the beginning, just like we knew that the Avengers were going to defeat Loki and that Mufasa was going to die in The Lion King……no wait that we DID NOT see coming and we’re still traumatised. Gosh. We all like a happy ending in a story and most of the time, people like to know what their getting in the end but has it become too simple and predictable?

  1. I agree a great deal here. Unfortunately, with great movies with a good story lines and unpredictable plots don’t make it much in many territories. One of my favorite Movies, Chronicle, about three young men who gain super powers but have adverse effects, had almost no response from the market. Sci-fi, one of the most original genres, never work in our territory. As a studio, I would also churn out the tried and tested, any day. At the end of the day, money is the ultimate vote.

  2. That’s so true. I loved that movie and their marketing team was very innovative but still very few people know about it. It’s sad.
